Box Score 2 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 13 ranked Warriors battled through a competitive two-game series against No. 8 ranked Adrian this week, showing stretches of strong play, resilient defense, and key individual performances, but ultimately came up short in both contests.
Game 1 opened with early momentum as the Warriors struck just 2:20 into the match up. Ashley Episcopo buried her second of the season off a smooth setup from Avery Johnson and Allison Greene, giving the home side a 1–0 lead. Despite being heavily outshot throughout the night, the group stayed locked in defensively behind an outstanding performance from goaltender Ashtyn Berthiaume, who turned away 41 of 43 shots. Adrian evened the score with a power-play goal midway through the second, and after a scoreless third period, the game moved to overtime. The Bulldogs converted just 37 seconds into the extra frame, handing the Warriors a hard-fought 2–1 OT loss in a gritty series opener.
The rematch on Friday at home brought another determined effort, though Adrian again came out on top with a 4–2 result. After the Bulldogs opened the scoring in the first period, the Warriors responded early in the second when Avery Johnson jumped on a loose puck and fired home the equalizer unassisted. Adrian regained control with two more goals later in the frame, but the home team continued to push. In the third period, Carys Wytinck pulled the Warriors within one with her second goal of the season, an unassisted strike at 7:42 that gave the bench a surge of energy. A late Adrian goal, however, sealed the contest at 4–2. Ashtyn Berthiaum made 22 saves in goal for the Warriors.
Across both games, the Warriors showcased resilience, timely scoring, and standout goaltending, including Berthiaume's impressive 41-save performance in Game 1. With the lessons from this series, the group now turns its attention to a two-game home match up against No. 5 Maryville University next Friday and Saturday, November 21–22, aiming to reset, respond, and deliver a statement on home ice.
