Fort Wayne, Ind. – On Monday, September 1, the Warriors traveled to South Bend to take on the University of Notre Dame's reserve side. Despite having only six practices with the ball in hand before the match, the team showed remarkable grit and determination throughout all 80 minutes. Every player earned valuable playing time, and the Warriors were fueled by the support of a lively group of fans who made the trip to cheer them on. It was a memorable first step for the program and a proud moment for Indiana Tech.
Later in the week, on September 6, the Warriors squared off against the Ball State Rugby Club, another program in a new phase of its journey. With limited time to prepare, Indiana Tech came out with intensity, controlling the contest and once again giving all players significant minutes on the pitch. Beyond the result, the scrimmage was a chance to build a connection with another Indiana rugby program and continue laying the foundation for future competition in the region.
As the Warriors move into their inaugural regular season, 28 student athletes are prepared to represent Indiana Tech with pride. A key factor in the team's early growth has been its leadership group,
Andrew Evans,
Ashton Skarie,
Emery Crawford,
Max Brinker, and
Noah Allen, whose example has helped the team develop discipline on the field.
The inaugural season begins Friday, September 12, at 7 p.m., when the Warriors travel to Angola to take on Trine University under the lights.
