Eight Warriors Named Conference Player of the Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – It's a great week to be a Warrior… Indiana Tech grabbed eight, yes eight conference player of the week awards for their performances between January 19-25!

Giselle Uvieghara, Stephen Sydnor, Bo Geibe, Luke Rioux, Logan Beaston, Jaxson Fugate, Libby Hurley, and Malakai Pettrie were all named Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and Mid-South Conference (MSC) Players of the Week, the conferences announced Monday.

Giselle Uvieghara was named WHAC Track Athlete of the Week after running a season best 56.72 seconds to better her B standard in the 400m race. She also ran a leg on the 4x400m relay that ran an NAIA 'B' standard at the Crossroads of America Invite. She ranks 12th in the NAIA for the 400m and the team is 5th in the 4x400m relay. Stephen Sydnor earned WHAC Field Athlete of the Week after posting a 7.22m long jump to win the open long jump at the Crossroads of America Invite. This mark also hits the NAIA 'B' standard and he currently ranks 11th in the NAIA. Bo Geibe was named the MSC Women's Wrestler of the week after she won the Warrior Women's Open – 160 – Varsity Bracket, going 5-0 on the weekend, with 4 pins. She would pick up wins over the #17 ranked wrestler in the NAIA and the #4 ranked NCAA Region 4 wrestler, which created a common over NAIA #12. Luke Rioux made it back-to-back WHAC Wrestler of the Week awards after going 5-0 with four pins to win the Missouri Valley Invite 133 division. Tech would sweep the men's basketball awards this week with Logan Beaston claiming Offensive Player of the Week and Jaxson Fugate claiming Defensive Player of the Week. Beaston tied the school and conference record for three pointers made in a game with 11 against UNOH last Wednesday! He would finish the game with 36 points, shooting over 61% from three. The redshirt-sophomore then followed that performance up with a 15 point outing against Rochester Christian on Saturday. He would also add ten rebounds and two assists in two Warrior wins. Fugate recorded four steals and one block over those two games, while bringing in 20 rebounds including 14 against UNOH. He would also score 40 points over the two games, shooting almost 75% from the floor. The Warriors would also sweep the bowling honors this week, grabbing both the men's and women's awards! Libby Hurley helped the Warrior women win the WHAC Jamboree #4 by finishing second overall at the tournament, knocking down 681 pins over three games for an average of 227. Malakai Pettrie had a similar weekend, finishing second overall and leading the Warriors to the title. Pettrie would knock down 721 pins in three games, averaging 240.33 for the tournament. Hurley and Pettrie both made the all-tournament team for the event.

Eight Warrior conference award winners in one week is the most recorded so far this school year, besting the previous high of five on two separate occasions (December 15, 2025 and January 12, 2026). Conference player of the week awards are released every Monday throughout the school year.
