Box Score WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Behind a double-double from
Sabine Filippovica, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team recorded their third double-digit victory of the season in an 80-62 rout of Wilberforce on Tuesday night.
The Warriors (3-2) shot 36.4 percent (12-for-33) from the field and converted 15 of their 19 free throws in the first half to take a 40-28 lead at the break. The Bulldogs (0-6) converted 10-of-31 (32.3%) shots in the first half, knocking down two three-point shots and sinking 6-of-9 (66.7%) from the charity stripe.
Wilberforce was able to net 34 second half points, but the Warriors scored another 40 to win the contest. The Bulldogs shot just 32.3 percent (20-for-62) from the floor including a 4-for-19 (21.1%) mark from long range. Wilberforce was able to convert 18-of-29 (62.1%) free throws in the game.
The Orange and Black did a stellar job on defense, not only limiting the Bulldogs shots, but also forcing 22 turnovers, turning them into 27 points, while Wilberforce scored just 14 points on 18 Tech miscues. Tech won the game inside, outscoring Wilberforce 36-26 in the paint while also winning the battle of the benches with 23 bench points to just eight for the Bulldogs.
Filippovia led the way on offense with 16 points and 11 rebounds while
Rachael Kruse added 16 points, five boards and four steals.
Ulyssia Richmond added 14 points and seven rebounds with
Simone Russell leading the Tech bench with nine points.
Kendra Moss led Wilberforce with a double-double of her own, netting 18 points and 13 rebounds while Danisha Brown also dropped in 18.
The Warriors return to action on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they host Madonna at the Schaefer Center for a 1 p.m. tip.
