Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – After a tough two-point loss last night, the Indiana Tech women's basketball team was defeated by the fourth-ranked Cougars of the University of Saint Francis (Ind.), 96-60 on Saturday afternoon to close out the Orthopedic Hospital Classic.

The Warriors (1-2) got off to a rough start against their cross-town rivals as the Cougars (2-0) scored the first nine points of the game and 12 of the first 14 to take an early 10-point lead. The closest Tech got in the first half was six points, which they did twice. St. Francis stretched the lead as high as 12 with 46 seconds to play in the period before back-to-back baskets by Sabine Filippovica and Rayana Villalpando cut the lead to eight, 37-29, at the break.

Both teams committed 13 turnovers in the first half, but the Cougars outshot the Warriors going 13-for-28 (46.4%) from the field while Tech made 8-of-31 (25.8%) attempts. Both teams made 11 free throws while Tech held the edge on the glass, 22-20.

Skylarr Shurn led all scorers with 14 points for USF while Chelsea Carrdine led the Orange and Black with six and Villalpando led the team with five rebounds.

St. Francis stretched the lead to 13 after the break, but Tech was able to fight back and get to within eight, 54-46 with 12:30 to play on a Taylor Carver bucket. The Cougars then went on a 31-4 run, holding the Warriors without a basket for nearly five minutes in the second half, eventually winning the contest by 36 points, 96-60.

The Warriors struggled on offense, finishing the contest 19-for-66 (28.8%) from the field including a 4-for-15 (26.7%) mark from behind the arc. The Cougars finished the game 33-for-66 (50%) from the field and 3-for-9 (33.3%) from three.

Carradine and Filippovica led the Warriors with 12 points each while they both tied with Villalpando with seven rebounds. Shurn led all scorers with 18.

The Warriors return to the court on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when they return to the Schaefer Center to host No. 20 Grace at 7 p.m.
