Box Score 2 BOURBONNAIS, Ill. –The Indiana Tech volleyball team opened play at the Holiday Inn Invite with mixed results on Friday, defeating St. Ambrose in their first match but then losing to host Olivet Nazarene at McHie Arena.
The Warriors finished the day with a 4-12 record and are still looking for more consistent play, having yet to win three-in-a-row this season.
"Today we played some tought competiton," Tech Head Coach Kourtney Volkmer stated. "If we can find ways to stay consistent in our serve recieve then we can be great."

The Warriors won their second consecutive match with their 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-21) victory over St. Ambrose in their first match of the day. It's their second straight sweep after not having a single three set win in their first 14 matches.
Senior
Suzanne Taylor led the charge on offense for the Orange and Black as she tallied seven kills, with
Cassandra Sarabia and
Shanice Richards added six each.
Alexandra Roberts led the setter duo with 12 assists while
Kelsey Fitzpatrick added nine.
On defense it was the freshman libero,
Taylor Kelso, who shined again tallying 19 digs, while Sarabia pitched in with 10 and Roberts and
Katelyn St. Martin each added nine.
Match Two | BOX SCORE
In their second match of the day Tech fell to the Tigers, 0-3 (26-24, 25-14, 25-19) making several unforced errors to aid the hosts in the victory.
The Warriors got off to a solid start in set one, pulling out to a 7-2 lead, however the Tigers fought back to tie it at nine, the first of four ties. Tech was able to once again go on a run, going on a 10-4 run after being tied at 11, taking a 21-15 lead, however, the Orange and Black again struggled to close out the set as three consecutive attack errors allowed ONU a chance to get back in and ultimately win the set, 26-24.
Stacy Nagy led the way with five kills on 13 chances with just one error and a block assist in the set while Sarabia and Fitzpatrick tallied six and five digs respectively.
After a demoralizing end to the first set, ONU capitalized in the second set scoring the first five points and led 21-9, as the Warriors just couldn't get into any sort of rhythm, falling 25-14.
Taylor led the team with four second set kills, however the Warriors committed 26 errors and hit -.038 in the losing effort.
"I thought
Suzanne Taylor really stepped up in a time of need as an outside and a right side tonight," said Volkmer.
The third set was closer and a back-and-forth affair, tying five times, however, the Warriors once again couldn't find an offensive rhythm and the attack errors aided the Tiger sweep.
After tying the game at eight, the Tigers went on to outscore the Warriors 17-11 to win the match. While they hit marginally better, -.097, Tech couldn't pull out the win as Nagy led the way with three kills and Taylor added two.
For the match the Warriors were outhit .179 to -.019, Tech's worst percentage of the season. Fitzpatrick led the team with 14 assists and 10 digs while Kelso added eight digs.
The Warriors continue play in the Holiday Inn Invite tomorrow with a 12 p.m. match against St. Francis (Ill.) and a 4 p.m. contest against Trinity Christian.
