Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A slow start half doomed the Indiana Tech women's basketball team as they suffered a 73-53 home loss to third-ranked Davenport at the Schaefer Center on Saturday.

The pressure defense the Panthers (16-1, 9-1) employed knocked the Warriors (9-9, 6-4) back in the first half as Davenport scored the first five points of the contest and didn't look back. Rachael Kruse's layup at 18:53 got Tech on the board but the offense never got into rhythm as DU forced 11 turnovers and converted them into 13 points, leading to a 45-22 Panther lead at the break. The Panthers also outscored the Warriors 26-10 in the paint and 9-2 in second chance points while outrebounding the Orange and Black 30-19 in the period.

Tech shot 30 percent (9-for-30) from the field while going 2-for-6 (33.3%) from three and the free throw line. On the other end, DU shot 42.9 percent (18-for-42) from the floor, went 5-for-11 (45.5%) from behind the arc and 4-for-6 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. Ulyssia Richmond led the Warriors with 10 points while Chelsea Carradine grabbed eight rebounds. For Davenport, Tiesha Stokes led the team with 14 points while Alison Bouman grabbed seven boards.

After DU stretched the lead to a game-high 26 points, 51-25 at the 17:03 mark, the Warriors went on an 18-7 run, cutting the lead to 15, 58-43, topped off by a Kiley Camp three. Unfortunately that's as close as the Warriors got, as the Panthers stretched the lead back to 25, 71-46 before a couple of late baskets by Tech cut the lead back to the final margin of 20 points, 73-53.

The Orange and Black outscored DU 31-28 in the second period, as the Warriors won points of turnovers, 10-8, and second chance points, 8-7, while being outrebounded just 17-16 in the half. Tech finished 35.7 percent (20-for-56) from the field, 5-for-15 (33.3%) from behind the arc and 8-for-13 (61.5%) from the stripe while DU shot 42.6 percent (29-for-68) from the floor, 6-for-16 (37.5%) from three and 9-for-14 (64.3%) from the line.

Richmond paced the Warriors offensively with 17 points while Sabine Filippovica added 11. Carradine finished with a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Panthers recorded two double-doubles with Stokes tallying 28 points and 11 boards with Bouman finished with 15 and 11, respectively.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 15 when they travel to Livonia, Mich. to face Madonna at 6 p.m.
