Box Score CHICAGO – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 Ice Hockey team played its first of three games against nationally-ranked opponents in the Robert Morris Invitational Friday night. It took the Warriors some time to find their legs, but they managed to play No. 19 Robert Morris (Pa.) even in the third period with a goal apiece. The Colonials, however, were able to get a single first-period tally to go with a middle stanza pair in beating Tech, 4-1.

"I thought our guys played hard tonight," said head coach Frank DiCristofaro.  "We have to limit our time spent in the box and I know we can be better with taking advantage of our opportunities around the net."
 
All told, the Warriors were assessed more than three times more penalty minutes than the Colonials, 43-14. Despite having to thwart eight Colonial man-advantage opportunities, Tech was able to capture the game's final goal to build momentum for Saturday's contest against No. 24 Oakland University.
 
Cameron Dimmitt found the back of the net with help from Jake Henrikson with less than six minutes remaining in the contest.  Matt Hughes and Zach Larson split time between the pipes with the former making a dozen stops to the latter's 23.
 
The Orange and Black pressed offensively the entire game with only a five-shot differential between the two clubs, despite not getting a good opportunity to attack on the power play with just three chances for the entire game. Tech's penalty-killing units were outstanding in not allowing any Colonial power plays to convert.
 
With the exception of last weekend's opponent, Midland University, every Division I opponent the team has faced so far this season has either received votes or held a top-25 nationally-ranked position.
 
Tech takes on the No. 24 Golden Grizzlies Saturday at 2:30 p.m. before completing the tournament Sunday at 2:20 p.m. against the host No. 11 Robert Morris (Ill.) Eagles.
