Box Score 3 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana Tech baseball team won its three game series with Taylor University this weekend, winning Friday night before splitting on Saturday. The games were moved from Upland, Ind. to Campbellsville University due to weather concerns.
The Warriors won the first game on Friday, 7-2, lost game one on Saturday, 7-4 before winning the rubber game, 3-1. Tech scored first in all three contests and is now 4-1 in such games.

Clay Wallace got the ball in the first game of the series on Friday night and put together his best performance of the season. In his third start of the year the junior right-hander registered his first win of the young season, allowing just one run on five hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out seven and walking three.
He was followed by
Curtis Wise who pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing one run on two hits, one walk and two Ks with
Marc Brandenburg getting the final two outs of the contest.
Tech got on the board in the bottom of the second when
Wes Darrow reached base via an error, stole second and came around to score on a single by
Alex McKinstry.
Taylor evened the score in the fourth with two hits and a Warriors error, only to have Tech regain the lead in the bottom half. Darrow was in the middle of the scoring again, this time delivering an RBI single, driving home
Bryan Brudi.
The Warriors added two unearned runs in the fifth and two runs on three hits in the seventh on a pair of RBI singles by Josh Carroll and McKinstry.
Romer Portes added the final tally with an RBI double in the eighth.
Taylor added a late ninth inning run for the final margin, 7-2.
McKinstry paced the Orange and Black with three hits, driving in two while Darrow and
Justin Kalusa each scored two runs.

Tech again scored first, this time in the top of the first inning as
Thomas Barnes and Kalusa started the game with back-to-back singles and a one-out walk to Brudi loaded the bases for Darrow who drove in Barnes and a
Jacob Dunnichay sac fly scored Kalusa for a 2-0 lead.
The Warriors sent lefty
Reece Phillips to the mound for the first game of the twin-bill and had a rough start as two runs scored on just one hit in the first to tie the score.
In the top of the third Carroll recorded his second RBI of the series, driving in Brudi to take the 3-2 lead, but a Trojan run in the fifth tied the score.
Tech was able to manufacture a run in the sixth thanks to a pair of stolen bases by Barnes, who reached on a walk. Brudi delivered a one-out single and the Warriors tried to add another, but Dezmon Nunn was gunned down at the plate.
Things went south for the visitors in the sixth as three walks, a wild pitch, a hit-by-pitch and an error led to four runs, two unearned, for the Trojans giving them the win.
Phillips tossed four innings, allowing two runs on two hits while walking and striking out three while
Aaron Carroll,
Brian Gremaux and
Chase Keathley combined to throw two innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on two hits, four walks and two strikeouts.
For the second straight game Tech wrapped out 10 hits led by two hits each from McKinstry, Brudi and Kalusa while Barnes finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

In the rubber-game, Kalusa got his second start of the season and duplicated Wallace's feat on Friday, winning his first game of the year. He allowed just one run on four hits over four innings with two walks and two Ks.
Connor McLaughlin pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk while
Jared Harvey recorded his first save, getting the final two outs in perfect fashion.
Kalusa got things start with his bat in the first, singling and coming around to score on a
Brian Hakes single for the early 1-0 lead. Nunn walked to lead off the second and a two-out single by Dunnichay scored him to extend the lead to two.
On the mound, Kalusa cruised through the first three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth. A pair of walks, a single and an RBI fielder's choice plated the lone Trojan run. He got the run back though as she led off the fifth with a single and stole second, putting him in position to scored on Portes' single.
Tech tallied eight hits in the contest led by Kalusa's three while Portes added two. Kalusa also scored twice while Dunnichay, Portes and Hakes all tallied RBIs.
Tech continues the 2014 campaign on Friday, Mar. 7 when they travel to New Albany, Ind. to face IU-Southeast. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
