Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – After scoring eight runs in their first game of the day, the Indiana Tech baseball team scored just one run in a 3-1 loss to Southeastern on Wednesday night at Ted A. Broer Stadium.
The Warriors (8-8-1) scored just one run on two hits in their second game on Wednesday, while the Fire (26-9) scored three runs on eight hits for the victory.
Tech had their first chance at a run in first inning as
Justin Kalusa singled up the middle with one out and promptly stole second.
Romer Portes followed with a walk, but a fielder's choice and a strikeout ended the inning.
The Orange and Black manufactured the game's first run as back-to-back walks put Kalusa and Portes on first and second and Kalusa swiped his second base of the game to put runners on the corners with one out. Ray Calloway then delivered a sacrifice fly to score Kalusa for the 1-0 lead.
Things came apart for Warriors starter
Chase Keathley (0-2) in the fourth as a single and a fielder's choice put two runners on with none out. A sacrifice bunt and a groundout scored the Royals first run. A wild pitch scored another run and two singles and a walk plated the final run of the game.
Geronimo Berroa, Jr. recorded Tech's second hit of the contest to lead off the fifth, but didn't advance any further.
Keathley pitched five innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two while
Connor McLaughlin tossed one scoreless inning of relief, allowing just two hits.
Derek Pandolphi (2-2) got the win as he pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits with five strikeouts and five walks. Tyler Murphy got his 10th save of the season for the Fire as he pitched a perfect seventh inning.
Kalusa finished 1-for-2 with one run scored, with Calloway recording the RBI and Berroa, Jr. tallying the Warriors second hit.
Tech returns to the field tomorrow, Mar. 20 when they face the Detroit Tigers in a scrimmage at 1 p.m. before traveling to Babson Park, Fla. to face Webber International at 7 p.m.
