Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech baseball team swept their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader against Lourdes on Wednesday at Mercy Field.

Tech won game one, 7-0, behind a stellar performance on the mound by freshman Brian Gremaux, before taking game two, 5-2, with a 4-for-4 performance from Justin Kalusa.

GAME 1 | TECH 7, LOURDES 0 | BOX SCORE

The Warriors (11-11-1, 3-1) got their first shutout of the season as Gremaux twirled a gem in the 7-0 win over the Gray Wolves (2-14, 2-8). The New Haven, Ind. native tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, a triple in the sixth, while striking out five and walking three. Chase Keathley and Jared Harvey then combined for three scoreless innings of relief, allowing just four hits.

The Orange and Black improved to 5-2 when scoring in the first inning and 8-3 when they score first with a run on two hits to open the game. After Kalusa reached on a one-out single, he promptly stole second, advancing to third on a groundout and coming around to score on Romer Portes' two-out RBI single for the 1-0 lead.

Kalusa was in the middle of the scoring again in the third as the senior tallied his second hit, a one-out double that put runners at second and third for Bryan Brudi, who plated Thomas Barnes from third with a sacrifice fly. Kalusa then scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.

A Brian Hakes two-out, RBI double in the fourth plated Jacob Dunnichay, pushing the lead to four. Barnes then led off the fifth with a single, stole a bag and then scored on Portes' second RBI single of the game for a 5-0 lead.

The Gray Wolves got their first base runner in the bottom of the frame on an error, but a foul out ended the threat. Then, after a scoreless sixth from Tech, Nick Mazgay delivered a two-out, pinch-hit triple to break up Gremaux's no-hitter.

In the ninth, the Warriors did more damage with two outs, as Dezmon Nunn, Brudi and Portes all singled, with the latter scoring Nunn. A wild pitch plated the seventh and final run for Tech.

Portes collected three of the Warriors 13 hits, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBIs while Derek Morgan, Dunnichay and Kalusa all tallied two hits with Kalusa also scoring twice.

GAME 2 | TECH 5, LOURDES 2 | BOX SCORE

Tech swept the doubleheader as Curtis Wise tallied his fourth win, pitching in relief of Kalusa who finished the contest 4-for-4 at the plate.

The Warriors scored first for the second straight game, with Kalusa getting things started with a one-out single. Brudi followed with a single of his own, pushing Kalusa to third, enabling him to score on Portes' sacrifice fly. The home team got the run back in the bottom half of the inning as a two-out single followed by a pair of errors put Lourdes on the board with an unearned run.

Tech stranded runners in the third and fourth, unable to break through with the big hit, allowing Lourdes to take the lead, 2-1, as they manufactured a run on just one hit in the fourth.

Kalusa tied the game again in the fifth as his two-out single scored Alex McKinstry, who reached on a Gray Wolves error. A wild pitch allowed Kalusa and Ray Calloway to advance to second and third, but a fly out ended the frame.

After a Lourdes pitching change began the seventh, Portes drew a leadoff walk then back-to-back singles by Dunnichay and Nunn loaded the bases. McKinstry followed one batter later with a one-out, RBI walk and a Morgan sacrifice fly gave the Warriors the 5-2 margin of victory.

Kalusa got the start and lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits before giving way to Wise who tossed 3 1/3 innings of one hit ball, striking out three and walking one.

Kalusa picked it up with his bat though with his 4-for-4 day, scoring one run and driving in two. Dunnichay was 2-for-4 with one run scored while Barnes, Nunn and McKinstry all scored a run, too.

Tech returns to action this weekend when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia on Saturday, Mar. 29 and Sunday, Mar. 30. Both days are scheduled to be doubleheaders with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
