GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The fourth-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team suffered it's first-ever Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference loss on Monday, falling to the second-ranked Panthers of Davenport, 17-13 at the DU Turf Field.

After winning the opening draw, the Panthers (12-0, 7-0) struck first on a goal from Jessica Lemcke and less than a minute later Brooke Knoll for the 2-0 lead. The Warriors (5-3, 5-1) first tally of the contest came at the 24:22 mark as Lauren Allard's shot found the back of the net to cut the lead in half. The Panthers then used a 4-0 run, with three goals from Taylor Balch, pushing the lead to five, 6-1. Kendall Guthrie scored her first goal of the contest at the 9:05 mark, but Balch added another tally four minutes later for the 7-2 lead. Guthrie then closed out the half with two goals to cut the deficit to three, 7-4.

Meghan Eldridge kept Tech in the game, making six saves in the first half. The Panthers attempted 18 shots in the frame to just nine for the Warriors. Both teams committed 11 turnovers and neither converted on their two free-position shots.

An early foul in the second half gave DU a free position shot which Sara Kuzava converted to push the lead to four, before another Panthers tally made it 9-4. Guthrie then converted the Warriors first free position shot of the contest to make it 9-5, trading goals with the Panthers to make the score 11-6. Tech then went on a 3-0 run, getting goals from Alexa Winter, Guthrie and Tayler Campbell to cut the deficit to two, 11-9. Davenport then used a 3-0 run of their own to push the lead back to five, however, Guthrie, Campbell and Aubri Hazen then scored three straight to get back to within two at 14-12. Unfortunately for the Orange and Black, the Panthers once again score three more unanswered goals to take a 17-12 lead. Autumn McMillan scored the Warriors final tally with 1:05 to play to account for the 17-13 score.

The home team finished the contest with a 42-21 margin in shots with Eldridge making 14 saves in the contest to just three for the Panthers goalie. Tech turned the ball over 24 times to the Panthers 14 while both teams collected 28 groundballs. Tech did win draw controls, 17-15 and were 5-for-9 in free-position shots.

Guthrie led Tech with eight points on seven goals and one assist while Campbell and Hazen each tallied two points each.

Balch led the Panthers with 10 points on seven goals and three assists while Samantha Powers got the win in net, allowing 13 goals while making three saves.

The Warriors take to the field again on Tuesday, Apr. 1 as they travel back to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face No. 6 Aquinas at 4:30 p.m.
