Box Score BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The fifth-seeded Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team captured third place at the 2014 national women's lacrosse league national championship, defeating conference rival and second-seeded Davenport, 16-8 on Saturday at Lindenwood Stadium.

Aubri Hazen got the scoring started with a goal 30 seconds into the contest on a free-position shot for the 1-0 lead. Lauren Allard added to the Warriors lead with an assist from Autumn McMillin and three minutes later, Kendall Guthrie found Hazen for her second goal of the game, giving Tech the 3-0 lead. Davenport finally got on the board with 19:46 left in the half but McMillin answered with her first of a game-high five goals to keep the lead at three.

Kaitlyn Lowden and Emily DeVries scored goals and sandwiched in between their tallies was the first goal of the game from Guthrie making it 5-3. McMillin tallied the last two goals of the half, the first assisted by Hazen, for the 7-3 halftime lead.

Tech outshot the Panthers 17-8 in the half and won ground balls 13-12 while losing draw controls, 6-5. The Warriors finished the period 10-for-14 in clears while Davenport was 8-for-9.

Allard found McMillin crossing through the eight-meter for the first goal of the second half, but Lowden followed with her second tally to cut the lead to four, 8-4. The Warriors then followed with a six goal run, pushing the lead to 10 with just 13:44 to play. Guthrie, Hazen and Alexa Winter each tallied unassisted goals while McMillin, Tayler Campbell and Allard each tallied assisted goals from Allard, Guthrie and Alexis DiGiovanni, respectively.

The Panthers didn't back down though, scoring four unanswered goals over the next 11 minutes to cut the lead to six, 14-8, with 2:56 to play. Campbell and Winter added insurance goals, with the last coming in the final 10 seconds to seal the 16-8 victory and even the season series with the Panthers at two each.

McMillin finished with a game-high five goals while also tallying an assist for six points while three others; Guthrie, Allard and Hazen, each tallied four points.

Meaghan Eldridge got the victory in goal, collecting 10 saves while permitting just eight goals in 60 minutes of play.

The Warriors finish the season 12-6 overall and captured several individual honors. Guthrie was named NWLL Player of the Year and First-Team All-American while teammates McMillin and DiGiovanni earned Second-Team and Honorable-Mention All-American honors.
