FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Cornerstone on senior day, winning 14-10 in game one before taking game two, 8-3 at Warriors Stadium on Saturday.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 27-19-1 overall and 17-8 in conference play while the Golden Eagles fall to 14-25 on the season and 3-19 in the WHAC.

GAME ONE | IT 14, CU 10

It was a roller coaster game one that featured five half innings where at least four runs were scored and each team committed five errors in the game.

The Golden Eagles got single runs in both the first and third innings, but Warriors starter Jared Harvey kept them in check for the majority of the contest, until he allowed a run in the sixth and was forced out of the contest.

He left in line for the win as the Tech offense scored five runs in the second on three hits and an error with seniors Justin Kalusa and Bryan Brudi each driving in a pair of runs, Kalusa with a single and Brudi with a double to make it 5-1 Tech.

After the third, neither team did much until the sixth when the Warriors again hung a crooked number, plating four runs on one hit and an error. Kalusa was intentionally walked with two outs to load the bases and Brudi followed with an RBI walk. Romer Portes made it hurt even more as he singled to score to more runs. Tech added another to make it 9-2.

It seemed like the home team was going to walk away with this one, but the Golden Eagles didn't back down. In the seventh, three hits and three errors led to four Cornerstone runs and the lead was cut to just three, 9-6.

Tech answered in the bottom of the frame as Tyler Denniston drew an RBI walk and a pair of bases loaded wild pitches to Kalusa plated two more runs. Brudi then doubled in the final run to push the lead back to seven, 13-6.

Cornerstone came charing back with another four spot on the scoreboard, scoring four runs on five hits and another Warriors error, however, senior Curtis Wise stranded two runners in the frame and pitched a clean ninth to earn his third save.

Harvey improved to 2-3 with the win as he allowed just three runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out four and walked two. Wise got the save as he allowed just two hits and struck out one in 1.2 innings.

Brudi finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored while Kalusa was 1-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Fellow senior Alex McKinstry also scored four runs for the Warriors.

GAME 2 | IT 8, CU 3

The series finale was never in doubt as freshman Brian Gremaux shut the Golden Eagles out in the first inning for the first time in the series, putting them down in order. Tech's offense then went to work as Brudi singled in two more to take the early lead and Brian Hakes extended that lead with a three-run home run over the left field wall, making it 5-0.

Gremaux cruised through the first two innings, but after a quick out in the third Travis Gordon homered for the second time on the day, this one a two-run shot, making it 5-2, but the home team picked up their pitcher with a two run bottom half.

Three consecutive hits from Portes, senior, Jacob Dunnichay, and Hakes to lead off the inning put two on with one out and a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch made it 7-2 Tech.

Cornerstone's last hit in the game came in the fourth with a Nick Covello home run accounting for the Golden Eagles third and final tally of the contest.

Dunnichay singled in Kalusa as an insurance run in the sixth, but it wasn't needed as the Warriors won, 8-3.

Gremaux dazzled in the victory and improved to 3-2 as he scattered five hits over seven innings, allowing just three runs while striking out a career-high nine batters and walking none.

Portes went 4-for-4 in the second game, scoring once while Dunnichay and Hakes each recorded two hits. Hakes drove in a game-high three runs while Dunnichay and Kalusa each scored twice.

In between the two games today, the Warriors honored eight seniors who have dedicated numerous hours of time and hard work to the Indiana Tech baseball team. Those honored were Brudi, Wes Darrow, Dunnichay, Kalusa, Daniel Lee, McKinstry, Tyler Reynolds and Wise.

The Warriors will venture off campus for the last time in the regular-season as they travel to North Manchester, Ind. on Apr. 29 to face Manchester University at 5 p.m.
