MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division I Hockey team got a pair of goals from
Ryan Theisen and three points from
Jarrett Pfeiffer, but it wasn't enough to topple Central Michigan in a 5-3 loss as Isabella County Events Arena on Friday night.
The Warriors netted the game's first goal when Pfeiffer found Theisen at the 8:09 mark, but the Chippewas answered with four unanswered goals, three from Josh McCarthy, to take a 4-1 lead.
Matt Walton connected with Pfeiffer at 8:04 in the second period to give the Warriors life and cut the deficit in half, 4-2. One minute later the home team pushed the lead back to three, but the Warriors continued to battle and Pfeiffer again connected with Theisen, this time on the power play, but with just 1:41 left on the clock the comeback fell short.
Tech finished the contest with four penalties for 10 minutes with CMU sending six guys to the box for a total of 14 minutes. The Tech net minder faced 40 shots in three periods, making 35 saves on the night while the Warriors put 32 shots on target.
Pfeiffer led Tech with three points while Theisen had two and Walton added one.
The Warriors look for their first win against Central Michigan in the fourth and final meeting this season on Saturday, Jan. 31 with puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m. at Isabella County Events Arena.
