WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 men's ice hockey team fell to No. 21 Buffalo, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Northtown Center at Amherst.
After giving up four goals to the Bulls in the opening 13 and a half minutes, the Warriors responded with four straight goals of their own.
Adam Jonak tallied the first at 3:03 in the first period,
Jace Childs notched two at 17:00 and 13:38 in the second and
Jarrett Pfeiffer tied it up at four-all at 9:45 in the second.
Buffalo would go on to score four unanswered goals, including three in the last 5 and a half minutes of the second.
"We ran into some penalty trouble early and couldn't recover" said head coach
Frank DiCristofaro. "We need to be more disciplined moving forward."
Zach Larson made 24 stops in the loss while giving up all seven goals.
John Slavik came in for relief in the third period and made 12 saves while giving up the eighth goal.
Childs also added an assist to lead the Orange and Black in points with three, while
Quentin Holmes,
Brian Skillicorn,
Joe Molfetta,
Ryan Theisen and
Kyle Cobb also picked up assists.
Tech recorded 12 penalties in all for 52 penalty minutes.
Indiana Tech (5-4) concludes its trip to Western New York on Sunday when they battle with Canisius for the second time in three days on Sunday. Puck drop is set for 11:45 a.m. from the Dan Memorial Hockey Rink.
