DEARBORN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team defeated No. 14 Michigan-Dearborn, 3-2, in overtime on Sunday evening to capture the UM-Dearborn Great Lakes Showcase Title at the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
Jarrett Pfeiffer scored the game-winner just over three minutes into the overtime session as fired one past Wolverines goaltender Nate Ferris for his second goal of the game. He would also tie the game back in the second period at 7:28.
Jace Childs would score the first goal while also picking up an assist on the first goal by Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer notched the assist on Childs' goal while
Ryan Theisen,
Nick Denice and
Adam Jonak also tallied assists.
Tech netminder
Zach Larson picked up his second win of the tournament as he made 46 saves with the hosts firing off 48 shots on goal. The Warriors penalty kill was a perfect four-for-four as well.
"Dearborn has an excellent team," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "We had a game plan and our guys stuck to it. Larson made great saves when he had to and we were able to capitalize on our chances. I'm really proud of our guys today."
