FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 men's ice hockey team fell to No. 21 Rochester College, 6-2, in Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) play on Saturday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
Unlike last night's matchup which didn't see a goal until the final 20 minutes,
Dylan Grant would score the opening goal at the 13:08 mark in the first period to give Tech a 1-0 lead.
The lead would not last long however, as Rochester would score three times between 8:27 and 4:48 in the first to send the host Warriors down 3-1.
Two more goals in the second from the visitors would chase starting netminder
Chet Tooker at the 5:45 mark as
Zach Larson came in for relief.
The Orange and Black would get some life late in the third as
Quentin Holmes scored a power play goal at the 4:31 mark to cut the score to 6-2, but it wasn't enough as the 21st ranked Warriors would salvage a split in the season series.
Tech would commit seven penalties on the night and gave up three of its goal on the power play, while only converting one of their eight man-up advantages.
Brandon Gallo,
Anthony Passarelli,
Jace Childs and
Zack Morlock all notched assists. Tooker finished with 11 saves, while Larson stopped seven shots and gave up the sixth goal.
Tech (7-4, 4-3 GLCHL) kicks off a four-game road swing on Monday when they head to Kalamazoo for the second installment of the "Battle of I-69" with No. 24 Western Michigan. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. from Wings West Arena.
