FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team used a three-goal first period to power themselves to a 10-0 victory over ACHA Division 2 Ferris State on Friday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The Warriors took advantage of four penalties by the Bulldogs in the opening period to score two power play goals, the first coming from
Jace Childs at 16:50. Childs would add the second of his three goals at 9:14 in the first and
Zack Morlock added the second power play goal with 50 seconds to go in the period.
The second period saw
Adam Jonak score twice as Tech extended their lead to 5-0 after 40 minutes.
The Orange and Black then proceeded to put up a five-spot on the Bulldogs in the final period, with
Chad Frost,
Quentin Holmes,
Joe Molfetta, Childs and Morlock each tallying a goal.
John Slavik stopped 24 shots en route to his first career shutout while the Warriors penalty kill was a perfect eight-for-eight. Tech notched four goals with a man advantage.
Jarrett Pfeiffer,
Ryan Theisen, Molfetta and Holmes each had two assists, while
Dominick Manochio,
Alex Gregorich,
Anthony Passarelli, Jonak, Morlock and Frost each had one apiece.
