FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 23
rd-ranked Indiana Tech ACHA Division 1 men's ice hockey team used a third period hat trick by
Jarrett Pfeiffer to pull away from ACHA Division 2 Ferris State for the 7-2 victory to complete the weekend sweep on Saturday afternoon from the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
After the Bulldogs scored first just 96 seconds into the game, the Warriors answered with three goals of their own in the first period.
Quentin Holmes,
Joe Molfetta and
Ryan Theisen all scored for Tech.
Ferris State opened the second period with a goal to cut the deficit to one 3:39 into the period, but
Adam Jonak responded with a goal just 32 seconds late to but the Warriors back up by two.
It was all Pfeiffer in the final period as he recorded his second hat trick of the season.
John Slavik made 26 saves in net for the Warriors has he picked up his fourth win of the season. Tech's penalty kill was perfect once again as they did not allow a goal in six short-handed chances and had two power play goals.
Tech (15-11-1-1) heads to Bloomington, Illinois next weekend for a pair of games with Illinois State. First game is set for Friday at 10:10 p.m. ET from the Pepsi Ice Center, with Saturday's game taking place at U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 2 p.m. ET.
