BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Indiana Tech ACHA men's Division 1 men's ice hockey team used a four-goal first period and stellar goaltending to shutout Illinois State, 6-0, on Friday night at the Pepsi Ice Center.
"We got out to a quick start and had good pace," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "They hit a few posts and were able to capitalize on our chances and that was the difference in the game."
Jarrett Pfeiffer had two power play goals in the first period, the first coming at 6:11 while his blast with 1:47 to go in the period put Tech up 3-0.
Anthony Passarelli scored in between Pfeiffer's two goals while
Joe Molfetta made it 4-0 with just 32 seconds left in the first.
Ryan Theisen and
Jace Childs each added insurance goals in the second to put the Warriors up 6-0.

Adam Jonak,
Zack Morlock, Childs, Theisen and Pfeiffer also tallied assists for the Orange and Black.
Zach Larson was superb in goal as he made 30 saves for his third shutout of the season. The Orange and Black were 2-for-9 on the power play while not allowing the Redbirds to score on their five power play opportunities.
Tech (16-11-1-1) concludes its weekend set, along with its season series, with Illinois State on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. EST from U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
