Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The No. 24-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Illinois State, 10-2, on Saturday evening at the Pepsi Ice Coliseum to complete the weekend sweep.
"We had a great effort tonight, especially on special teams," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "(Chet) Tooker was a calming influence in net."
In a game that saw 30 penalties between the two teams, the Warriors would take advantage of their opportunities with four power play goal, starting with
Brett Lervold's tally in the first giving the Orange and Black the lead for good.
Ryan Attwood would give Tech a 3-1 lead in the second before the offense would explode for seven goals in the third period, with
Jarrett Pfeiffer and
Joe Molfetta notching power play goals.
Lervold would finish the game with two goals while
Adam Jonak and Molfetta would each record a game-high four points.
Chet Tooker would pick up the win in net for the Warriors, who won back-to-back games for the first time since December 9-10, when they swept Eastern Michigan.
Tech (16-17-1) heads to No. 13 Stony Brook next weekend for their final series of the regular season. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday from the Rinx.
