Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team started off its final weekend of home games Friday as they defeated Siena Height, 9-4, in five innings on Friday evening at Warrior Field as rain showers caused a two-hour delay before the game was finally called.
Charlie Sipe would lead off the Tech first with a triple to left center on a 0-1 count while
Dante Biagini would drive him three pitches later with a sacrifice fly to center. Tech would tack on to their lead in the second as
Peyton Newsom sent over onto Anthony Boulevard for his ninth homer of the year. A single from
Keith Tatum would allow
Chris Gaynor and Biagini to score and make it a 4-0 game.
The Orange and Black would use four doubles in the fourth to make it a 9-1 game and give starter
Johnny Crawford more than enough offense for his eighth win of the season. The senior form Wapakoneta, Ohio would allow four runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters.
The game was delayed in the bottom of the fifth inning with the intent to resume around 10 p.m., but Mother Nature would win out and the game was called. The second game was also postponed till Saturday and the weekend finale will now be a doubleheader.
Tech (37-10, 21-6 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they host Siena Heights in a Senior Day doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. from Warrior Field.
