The Indiana Tech ACHA hockey team opened the year with a sweep of University of Michigan – Flint over this past weekend.
Tech came out hard on Friday night on home ice scoring two first period goals.
Anthony Passarelli opened Tech's scoring just 2:42 into the game.
Bear Ross scored his first colligate goal for the Warriors twenty-seven seconds later and gave Tech a 2-0. Flint would not go away easy as they would tie the game in the second period.
Mason Oetting would give the Warriors the lead back 55 seconds into the 3
rd period. Flint would again tie the game back up at 3, but the Warriors would answer again. Passarelli would get his second of the game and the Warriors would hold on to the win in Friday night's game 4 to 3.
Chris Boyd had 28 saves on the night.
Saturday would be a back in forth game again for the two teams. Flint would score the first goal of the game, but Tech would be quick to respond as
Conner Sharrett would get his first of the season.
Connor Barney would give the Warriors the lead on a nice deflection. Tech would make the game 3-1 after a
Bear Ross goal in the second period, but like the night before, Flint would not go away quietly. Just over a minute into the 3
rd period Flint would make the game 3-2.
Mason Oetting would score a breakaway goal to give Tech a two-goal lead again. Flint would comeback and score two goals in the final 10 minutes of the 3
rd period to send the game into overtime. The Warriors would prevail as
Blake Anderson would score just 25 seconds into overtime.
Chris Boyd played phenomenal again by having 46 saves on the night.
The Warriors are back in action this Friday as they will travel to Ferris State. Tech will return home on Saturday night at SportOne/Parkview Ice House with puck drop being at 5:30.
