After a rough start to second semester, the ACHA Warriors got back on track with two wins against Davenport and a win against Western Michigan to wrap up their three-game weekend.
On Friday night, the Warriors traveled up to Davenport to take on the Panthers. The Warriors would strike first as
Bear Ross would net his 19
th goal on the year.
Dakota Stilwell would add his first point of the year in his first game back for the Warriors.
Connor Barney would make it 2-0 Warriors with his 9
th goal on the year on a nifty move to get past the Davenport defense. That would also be
Connor Barney's 100
th point for Indiana Tech. Davenport would then get on board to make the game 2-1 in the middle of the first period.
Connor Barney would add his second of the game on the power play for the Warriors to make it a two-goal game once more.
Tyler Lantzsch would come out of the penalty box and would score on a breakaway to make it 4-1 in favor of the Warriors.
Bear Ross would open the second period scoring with his 20
th goal of the year and 2
nd of the game. Davenport would sneak another past netminder
Chris Boyd who had 28 saves on the night. Tech would add another goal in the second on the power play from
Jordan Reese. Davenport would not go down without a fight in the third period. Davenport had battled back to make the game 6-5 before
Bear Ross would score his 3
rd goal of the game and first collegiate hat-trick. Davenport would get one more, but the Warriors would prevail 7-6.
Saturday night the Warriors would return to home ice and face-off against the Panthers of Davenport for the final game of the year between the two teams. Davenport would find the back of the net first late in the first period and would be the only goal of the period.
Blake Anderson would get the Warriors on the board early in the second period.
Jordan Reese would then give the Warriors the lead on a nice pass from
Bear Ross.
Bear Ross would score the next one for the Warriors, sneaking one top-shelf past the Davenport goalie. The game would be 3-2 heading into the third period. Davenport would tie the game up early in the third, but Tech would be quick to respond as
Tommy Irick would score to put Indiana Tech ahead again.
Connor Barney and
Anthony Passarelli would add two empty net goals and the Warriors would sweep Davenport with the final score being 6-3.
Chris Boyd would stop 37 shots out of 40 on the night.
The final game of the 3-game weekend would be back up in Michigan against Western Michigan. The first period would come and go with no scoring from either team.
Connor Barney would get Tech on the board first making the same move as he did Friday night against Davenport.
Bear Ross would net his team leading 24
th goal of the year and give a 2-0 lead. Western would put one goal on the board before the period would end. Western would tie it early in the third at 2.
Sam DelVescovo would score his first ever colligate goal on a breakaway and would put it upstairs with momma hides the cookie jar. Western would come right back and tie the game back up at 3. The game would go to overtime. 33 seconds into OT
Connor Barney would find
Bear Ross wide open back door and he would make no mistake in putting it in the back of the net and send the Warriors home with the win 4 to 3.
Jarod Potasnik would have 44 saves on the day for the Warriors. With the victory the ACHA would be I-69 Budget Cup Champs for the second year in a row.
The ACHA team is back in action next Sunday at Adrian for a pivotal game against the Bulldogs. Tech returns home next Tuesday, February 5
th against in-state rivals Trine University at 8:30 pm at Parkview SportOne/Parkview Ice House. Â Â Â Â
