FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team returns to action Tuesday night as they host Cornerstone in the championship game of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament at the Schaefer Center in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
Tech is in the finals of the WHAC Tournament for the first time ever and is in the midst of one of the best seasons in program history as they won the regular season WHAC title for the first time ever. The Warriors are led by the senior duo of
Keanna Gary and
Haley Cook, who are averaging 19.1 and 18.1 points per game and both made the All-Conference First-Team, who Cook garnering Player of the Year honors from the conference.
The Golden Eagles, seeded sixth in the tournament, come to the Summit City and with a record of 18-14 and upset third-seeded Aquinas and second-seeded Lawrence Tech to make an appearance in the WHAC Championship for the first time since the 2008-09 season. The win over LTU Saturday, coupled with Tech's victory over Concordia in the other semifinal, clinched the WHAC's second automatic bid to the NAIA Division II National Championship for Cornerstone.
CU is led by guard Jesse Sheridan, a three-time WHAC First-Team All-Conference selection, who is averaging 17.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, and forward Cass Vredevoogd, who is scoring 10.9 points per game.
Tickets for the finals are $7 for adults and $5 for students/seniors. Indiana Tech students are free with student ID.
Following the game there will be an awards ceremony with WHAC Commissioner Rob Miller, who will present regular season conference awards along with the conference tournament trophy.
