CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Indiana Tech men's hockey shut out Jamestown in the first round of the ACHA National Tournament last night to advance to the quarterfinals today.
The Warriors opened the game with a goal in the first eight minutes of play.
Alex Potter made sure to take advantage of their powerplay and found the back of the net from
Nick Papandrea and
Alex Arnold. Tech scored the only goal of the first period to head into the second ahead 1-0.
At the 9:29 mark in the second period the Warriors struck again. This time
Blake Cudmore scored the goal and
Brett Geoffroy tallied the assist to give Tech a 2-0 lead. The Warriors were able to hold Jamestown scoreless through the second period with two penalty kills.
At the 18:30 mark in the third period
Matej Krasny scored for the Warriors and was assisted by
Potter. Just over a minute later at the 19:37 mark,
Adam Vannelli scored from
Fabian Granqvist to seal the 4-0 victory for the Warriors in the first round and advance to the quarterfinals.
Bryson Linenburg earned the shutout win in the net for Tech with 28 saves.
The Warriors are set to face Robert Morris tonight who received the second seed in the tournament at 5:45 p.m.
