MARLBOROUGH, Ma. – The Indiana Tech men's hockey team defeated No. 9 seeded Maryville University (Mo.) 7-3 on Saturday night to advance to the quarterfinal round at the ACHA Nationals Championships.

After 16 days without playing a game, some might have questioned how prepared the No. 8 seeded Warriors would be coming into the game. Tech answered those questions and left little doubt in their abilities as the Warriors dominated their postseason matchup from start to finish. The Warriors scored two early powerplay goals at 14:09 and 11:27 in the first period, courtesy of Colton Nikiforuk and Matej Krasny. Brandon Plummer would add another goal with 53 seconds to go in the period as the Warriors took a 3-1 lead into the intermission. Tech would continue to stay hot in the second scoring three straight goals to open the period. Luke Anderson, Alex Arnold, and Avery Smith all scored in the period, as Alex Potter picked up his third assist of the game in the period. The Warriors entered the third period up 6-2 with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. After giving up a goal midway through the period, Smith would add his second of the day for the Warriors in the final minutes, ending all hope for the Saints and putting a stamp on the 7-3 Warrior victory. Ty Barnhill played well in goal for the Warriors making 27 saves and picking up an assist in the win.

The Warriors will play in the quarterfinals on Sunday, March 19^th at 8 pm against the No. 1 seeded Minot State University Beavers.
