WHAC Men’s Basketball Preview

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The regular season has come and gone, and the Indiana Tech men's basketball team has secured the two seed in the WHAC Men's Basketball Tournament.
 
Madonna earned the one seed and has claimed the first of the WHAC's two auto bids to the NAIA National Championships. The winner of the WHAC tournament, or runner-up if Madonna wins, will earn the second bid.
 
The WHAC Men's Basketball Tournament is set to take place on the higher seed campuses. The opening round starts on Thursday, February 26. The semifinals will be Saturday, February 28 with the finals on Monday, March 3.
 
No. 1 Madonna (21-7, 18-4 WHAC) vs No. 8 Aquinas (11-16, 9-13 WHAC), 7:00 PM
 
Head-to-Head: 1-1 (Aquinas W 83-77 on Dec. 6. Madonna W 90-71 on Jan. 24).
 
Madonna has four players averaging 11+ points. They are led by the duo of Joey Liedel and Ahmoni Weston, who average 18.6 and 18.3 points per game, respectively. Liedel is fourth in the WHAC in three-point percentage (43.1) and free throw percentage (88.4). Weston is also fourth in steals (50) and assists (129). DeAntwan Randle is third in the WHAC in both rebounds per game (8.7) and field goal percentage (66.0). Makyle Doss leads the WHAC with a 47.8 three-point percentage.
 
Aquinas is led by Caden Pokorzynski and Devon Boyd. Pokorzynski is averaging 18.1 points per game and leads the WHAC with 10.3 rebounds per game. Boyd averages 16 points per game and is fifth in the WHAC with an 88.1 free throw percentage.

Lourdes is led by Derek Fairley, who is second in the WHAC at 23.2 points per game. Lourdes also has four other players who average double figures. Adonus Abrams is second in the WHAC in steals with 63, and Charlie Wood is second in field goal percentage at 61.4 percent.
 
Lawrence Tech has four players who average double-figures and two more who average nearly nine points a game. They are led by Michael Afrakoff who averages 12.9 points per game. Davin Walker is third in the WHAC with 50 steals.

Indiana Tech comes into the contest with four guys who average double figures. The Warriors are led by sophomore Jaxson Fugate, who is third in the WHAC in scoring (20.3 points) and fourth in rebounds (8.0). Fugate is also second in the WHAC with 48 blocks.
 
Senior Blake Davison is having a career year. The guard is averaging 16.8 points per game and is fifth in the WHAC with 114 assists.
 
Logan Beaston has been a welcome addition to the Warrior lineup, averaging 12.5 points per game. Beaston is fifth in the WHAC with 76 made three-pointers on the year.
 
Steele Brasfield is the fourth Warrior averaging double-figures with 10.2 points per game. Brasfield is having a career year as he has set career highs in nearly every statistical category.
 
The Warriors are second in the WHAC in points per game (86.9), field goal percentage (48.5), three-point percentage (35.8), and free throw percentage (75.0).
 
Cornerstone is led by Blake Stewart and Kayden Bird, who average 17.6 points and 16.2 points, respectively. Bird is second in the WHAC in free throw percentage at 89.1 percent.
 
Tre Seydel is second in the WHAC in three-point percentage, hitting 45.9 percent of shots from behind the arc. Big man Mark DeVries makes an impact on both sides of the court. DeVries averages 8.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He is second in the WHAC with 45 blocks and fourth in field goal percentage at 60.9.
 
Andy Mora is the facilitator of the offense. Mora averages 9.7 points per game and is second in the WHAC with 142 assists.

Rochester Christian is led by Tymias Williams, who is fifth in the WHAC in points per game (18.7) and rebounds per game (8.0). Williams also leads the conference in steals and is fifth in blocks. James Fisher averages 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Fisher leads the WHAC with a 67.8 percent field goal percentage. Linden Holder is third in the WHAC in assists.
 
Cleary is led by Zane Kemp, who is averaging 14.1 points in 15 games. Nick Ellis averages 11.1 points per game and is third in the WHAC in three-point percentage at 45.3 percent. Ellis is also fourth in the WHAC in blocks.
