FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team was back at home on Saturday for an afternoon kickoff against Indiana University-East, where both sides would walk away with a point in a 1-1 draw.
 
In the first half, both teams would hold their own in what was a pretty even first 45 minutes. The tide would swing back and forth as the teams looked to gain an edge on their opponent. IU-East would lead Tech in total shots 5-3, but the Warriors put two on target compared to just one for the Red Wolves, while both teams had two corner kicks in the first half. The offense started to pick up in the second half with more shots and chances happening. IU-East would again lead in total shots 8-4, but Tech would hold a 4-2 advantage in shots on target in the half. Chante Perkins and Leticia Guimaraes led the charge for the Warriors registering two shots a piece in the game, with the duo linking up for the Warriors first goal of the season. In the 62^nd minute of the game, Guimaraes would take a pass from defender Payton Kuhn, turn, and send a through ball in behind the Red Wolves defense to a printing Perkins who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. As IU-East began to push more numbers forward as the clock started to wind down, Tech would have a couple more opportunities to score a second but would be denied by the Red Wolves keeper on multiple attempts. The Warriors would fend off the Wolves barrage of corner kick attempts in the second half but would finally give up the equalizing goal with just under three minutes to go in the game. The game would finish in a 1-1 draw as nobody scored the winner in the final minutes. Madison Strain made two saves in goal for the Warriors.
 
The Warriors move to 0-2-1 on the season and will face off with the #14 ranked Taylor Trojans in their next game on Wednesday, September 2^nd at 7pm.
