Box Score MUNCIE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 3 Ice Hockey team won a pair of games over Ball State University this weekend. The Black and Orange won 6-2 Friday and 8-2 Saturday. A dozen different players factored into the scoring, while two goaltenders picked up wins.
Connor Barney was on fire in the first game registering three goals and one assist including the game's first goal and the game winner.
Ryan Theisen had three assists and
Nick Denice added a goal and an assist.
Rounding out the scoring in Friday's contest was
Jerret Haas and
Michael Schmitt, while
Russell Smascz made 24 saves.
Haas was Saturday's top performer with a goal and three helpers from the blueline. Theisen added four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and
Ryan Matteson added a goal and two assists.
Tyler Grunden and Denice each had a pair of points with a goal and assist each, while
Braden Susnik registered 11 saves in net.
Five players accounted for 11 of the 14 goals scored this weekend. Haas, Schmitt, Theisen and Denice all had a two-game totals of two goals, while Barney had three.
Theisen collected a team-high seven points this weekend followed by Haas with five. Matteson, Denice and Barney ended with four, while Grunden finished with three.
Justin Burge and
Drew Yeley had an assist in each game for two-point totals on the weekend.
Nik Mensik and
Chad Swartz each had an assist, while
Justin Richardson added a goal.
The D3 team will travel to Indiana University next weekend for a pair of matches.
