Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 3 Ice Hockey team knew it had its hands full facing a team in a higher division Saturday night. The Panthers have dropped just a single game in their first dozen played at the Division 2-level. Except for a rough start to the game, the Warriors played the Panthers just a goal apart in the game's second half. Tech surrendered four goals in the early going before falling, 10-5.
The game's first 30 minutes saw Davenport take a 4-0 lead, but the rest of the contest was a 6-5 match barely in favor of the Panthers. Take away special teams goals during that second half and the Warriors out-scored the Panthers 5-4.
Ryan Theisen got Tech on the board first with about six minutes left in the second period to make it a 4-1 game. Theisen would gather the hat trick as the game's top goal scorer.
Tech put together a late string of three goals in the third to crawl back 8-5. Theisen led the way with his second and third of the game about six minutes apart.
Ryan Matteson added a goal less than a minute after Theisen's third.
Connor Barney got the other Warrior goal and he and Matteson finished the contest with a pair of points each.
Nick Denice,
Chad Swartz and
Jerret Haas added assists on the night.
