Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 3 Ice Hockey team came from behind to tie Calvin College, but the second rally was cut short when the officials waived-off what would have been the tying goal. The Warriors fell to Calvin, 3-2 Friday night.

The Warriors scored two goals in less than a two-minute span over two periods to rally back from being down a pair of goals. With under a minute to go in the second period the Orange and Black got on the board to make it a 1-2 game, and then rallied again just 65 seconds into the third period for a 2-2 score.

"We're starting to play with more consistency and it's starting to show on the scoreboard. A couple of different bounces and it's entirely different game," said head coach Brian Lockhart.

Making good on his Indiana Tech debut, Nick Hartmann got the Warriors on the board in his first game late in the middle stanza. Connor Barney tied the game at 2 apiece with assists from Nick Denice and Nick Janiszewski on the power play.

The game stayed tied until the final minutes when the Knights took the lead with six-plus minutes to go. Tyler Grunden's disallowed goal was waived off with about five minutes remaining when the officials ruled he directed the puck in the net with his foot.

Goaltender Russell Smascz went the distance facing 40 shots with a solid 37-save performance.

The D3 team will look for a weekend split against the Knights when they face them again tomorrow at 8:30 p.m.
