Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 3 Ice Hockey team made a statement Thursday night with a 3-1 win over host Adrian College at the Arrington Ice Arena.

The words hockey and Adrian have become synonymous in Southeast Michigan. Amongst Adrian's six hockey teams have been many headlines during the past seven years. Their NCAA team lost out on a national championship by a goal, and one of their ACHA Division 3 teams are the reigning three-time national champions.

So when Indiana Tech's first-year program took to the road to face one of Adrian's Division 3 teams, it knew the results might help benchmark the program against a well-established program. When the final horn sounded, the Orange and Black moved to 4-1 on the season in convincing fashion by out-shooting the Bulldogs 39-34.

Drew Yeley's middle-period score proved to be the game winner. The freshman blueliner found the back of the net from assists by Ryan Theisen and Chad Swartz, with the latter totaling a pair of helpers on the night.

Tyler Grunden started the scoring for the Warriors and Nik Moehring added an insurance marker to put an exclamation point on the win.

Also registering an assist each for Tech was Justin Burge and Jerret Haas.

Goaltender Russell Smascz stopped 33 shots for the win.

In Indiana Tech's first-ever hockey home-and-home matchup, the Orange and Black will face-off against the same Bulldogs' squad Friday, Sept. 26 at 8:30 p.m. at the SportOne/Parkview IceHouse.
