FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA D3 men's ice hockey team defeated the Adrian College Black Team, 4-2, in their home opener on Friday night at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
The Warriors were got on the board first when
Ryan Krolikowski blasted in his third goal of the season just a minute and 37 seconds into the game to give Tech an early 1-0 lead.
The Orange and Black would add two more in the second period to make it 3-1.
Zakary Skog notched his second goal of the season on a power play opportunity at 16:14, while
Eric Stewart would collect his first goal of the season at the 7:07 mark in the second.
A goal from Tommy Irick at 18:21 in the third period would give the hosts a 4-0 lead that they would not relinquish as they withstood two goals from the Bulldogs in the last 10 and a half minutes for their first victory on home ice.
Christopher Boyd made 32 saves while only allowing the two goals, one of which was on a Bulldogs power play. Krolikowski would also add two assists to his game totals, while
Michael Cruse,
Jordan Reese,
Austin Griffis and
Jerret Haas would also tally assists.
Tech had 24 shots on goal and had nine power plays in the game.
Indiana Tech (2-1-0) travels to Grand Rapids, Michigan on Oct. 9 to start a two-game series with Aquinas College. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. from Griff's Icehouse.
