BOX SCORE | ALLENDALE, Mich. – The ACAH III Indiana Tech hockey team traveled to Georgetown Ice to face Grand Valley State on Friday night and the undermanned squad fell 9-2.
The Warriors, playing with just 10 skaters, held their own for the first 24 minutes, as the Lakers scored just twice in the opening period and Tech was able to cut the lead in half on a
Jace Childs tally with an assist from
Nick Janiszewski 1:58 into the second. Unfortunately the home team took advantage of the numbers, scoring three straight goals, one on the power play, to take a 5-1 lead. Janisewski connected with
Justin Richardson just before intermission for the Warriors second goal, but GVSU was too much in the final 20 minutes, netting four more goals for the final margin.
The Orange and Black put 20 shots on goal while the Lakers attempted 58 shots with Tech goalie,
Russell Smascz making 49 saves in the contest.
Janiszewksi finished with two points while Richardson and Childs each tallied one.
The Warriors conclude their inaugural season on Thursday, Feb. 19 at the SportONE/Parkview IceHouse where they will be the visitors against IPFW. Faceoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
