FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 3 men's ice hockey team redeemed themselves from their Friday night loss with a 6-3 win over Lawrence Tech – Blue on Saturday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
The Warriors would jump out ahead of the Blue Devils with help from back-to-back
Brandon Gallo goals in the first period. A final first period goal from
Jordan Pitlick would put the Orange and Black ahead 3-0 heading into the first intermission.
Connor Barney led Tech out of the first break with an early goal to go ahead 4-0 just before the midway point of period number two. After consecutive goals from Lawrence Tech, with Josh Denomie credited for the first and Michael Decarlo tabbed for the second, the Blue Devils began edging closer to the Warriors lead. In the final five minutes of the period,
Hudson Sabin sent in the score to provide the 5-2 score just before the third period.
LTU's Denomie sent in an early third period goal, but would ultimately account for the last scoring for the visitors in the contest. A deep empty net bank shot from Matthew Walton in the final minute of play gave the Warriors the dagger to a 6-3 victory.
