FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 3 men's ice hockey team started off the spring semester strong as they routed crosstown rival IPFW, 8-1, in a nonconference matchup at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
 
Tech raced out to a 2-0 lead over the Mastodons in the first four minutes of the game thanks to goals from Justin Burge and Ryan Krolikowski. After an IPFW goal at 6:57 in the first cut the Warriors lead to one, the hosts would respond with two more goals in the period with Jordan Reese and Hudson Sabin lighting the lamp at 7:15 and 19:00, respectively.
 
Reese would tack on his second goal of the game at 10:15 in the second to make it a 5-1 game while Michael Cruse, Cameron Pfeiffer and Connor Barney would each score as well.
 
Chris Boyd made 23 saves in goal to get the win while Braden Susnik made 14 saves in relief. Cruse, Sabin and Pfeiffer would each tally two assists to finish the night with three points apiece.
 
Tech (8-11-0) returns to action Saturday when they face off with IPFW in an "away" game at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse. Faceoff is set for 5 p.m.
