FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech ACHA Division 3 men's ice hockey team fell to crosstown rival IPFW, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
Tech would come back from three one-goal deficits in the game, with
Connor Barney and
Josh Brown making it a 1-1 and 2-2 game in the second period, respectively. After the Mastodons went ahead 3-2 at 6:37 in the third,
Tyler Lantzsch would send the game into overtime with just 1:36 left in regulation.
The Warriors would take a costly penalty just 40 seconds into overtime however as IPFW converted on the power play just five seconds into the man-advantage to give the hosts the 4-3 victory and earning the weekend split.
Braden Susnik made 45 saves in net for the Orange and Black in his first start of the season.
Jerret Haas would tally two assists while Lantzsch would get an assist on Brown's goal to finish the night with two points as well.
Chad Cobb,
Hudson Sabin, and
Jordan Reese would also earn assists.
Tech (8-11-1) returns to action on Sunday, January 15, as they host Indiana on Senior Day. Puck drop is set for 11:30 a.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
