The Indiana Tech Warriors ACHA team took on Loyola Chicago University this past weekend and split the series, winning 13-3 and losing 7-6.
Tech would explode for six goals in the first period. Conner Barney would net two goals for the Warriors in the first.
Anthony Passarelli,
Mason Oetting, and
Conner Sharrett would each add a goal in the first. Lucas Hilty would score his first goal of the season to make it 6-1 Warriors. In the second, Oetting, Passarelli and Hilty would each add their second goal of the night, while Barney would score to complete the hat-trick. The Warriors would be up 10-3 after two periods of play.
Bear Ross would score two goals in the third period.
Mason Oetting would add his third of the night to complete the hat-trick as well. The Warriors would win 13-3.
On Saturday, the game would be a different outcome for the Warriors.
Conner Sharrett would get the Warriors on the board in the first, but after the first period it would be a tie game at 1-1. Tech would fall behind in the second 2-1, but
Tyler Lantzsch would respond for Tech just after Loyola took the lead. Loyola would take the lead 3-2 in second, but
Anthony Passarelli would tie it up at 3 for the Warriors. Loyola would go into the third period with a 4-3 lead.
Bear Ross and
Blake Anderson would put the Warriors in front 5-4. Loyola would respond with two goals of their own to regain the lead at 6-5.
Bear Ross would net his second of the game to send the game to overtime. Tech would end up falling to Loyola in overtime. It was a tough loss for the Warriors after winning big the night before.
