MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The #6 seeded Indiana Tech women's ice hockey team fell to the #3 seeded Minot State Beavers in the semifinal of ACHA Nationals this past weekend, putting an end to a historic first season in program history.
The Warriors were out-matched by a veteran Beaver squad, as they'd give up a goal just twenty seconds into the contest, and it snowballed from there, with the Orange and Black being defeated 5-0.
Izzy Varner managed 27 saves on the day.
Indiana Tech finished their first season in program history with a 23-9-1 record, going undefeated in CCWHA play and winning the West Pod.
Izzy Pettem-Shand was named First Team All-American and
Lauren Younker was named Second Team All-American by the ACHA. The Warriors also had a number of all-conference honors, including
Scott Hicks winning coach of the year for the fourth time. For a first year program with 17 freshman and one graduate student, that's a lot to be proud of, and the future looks bright in Fort Wayne.
