DEARBORN, MICH. - The Indiana Tech women's hockey team closed out its CCWHA Tournament run Sunday afternoon with a 4–1 loss to Michigan-Dearborn at the Dearborn Ice Skating Center.
The Warriors came out strong and opened the scoring on the power play at the 5:46 mark of the first period. Carys Wytinck found the back of the net off assists from Allison Greene and Hailey Terpstra to give Indiana Tech the early 1–0 advantage.
Michigan-Dearborn answered quickly, tying the game less than two minutes later before adding another goal at 8:34 to take a 2–1 lead into the first intermission.
The Wolverines extended their lead in the second period with a power play goal at 11:46 and added an insurance goal at 15:25 to make it 4–1. Indiana Tech had five power play opportunities in the contest but was unable to generate another breakthrough.
Michigan-Dearborn outshot the Warriors 34–17 overall. Goaltender Ashtyn Berthiaume made 30 saves in net and kept Indiana Tech within striking distance throughout the game.
Despite the result, the Warriors put together a strong showing in the CCWHA Tournament, battling their way to the championship game and competing until the final buzzer.
