Box Score 2 Fort Wayne, Ind. - Indiana Tech women's hockey put together a gritty, resilient weekend against Michigan, splitting the series and closing it with a statement overtime victory.
The Warriors struck first in the opening period, with Payton Gilmour finishing a play set up by Allison Greene to give Indiana Tech an early 1–0 lead. Michigan responded in the second period with three goals, including a pair from Julia Lindahl, to take control of the game.
In the third period, Avery Johnson buried a goal off another Greene assist, pulling the Warriors within one and keeping the pressure on late. Despite the push, Indiana Tech fell just short in a tightly contested matchup.
In the second game of the series the Warriors came out strong, scoring the first goal just 4 minutes into the game as Daphnée Gagnon finished a pass from Kaitlyn Broeckel and Allison Greene. Indiana Tech kept the pace high, with Sylvie Legault scoring in the first period with Daphnee Gagnon assisting key goals throughout the night. Michigan battled back, tying the game multiple times, making it a back-and-forth battle through regulation.
In the third period, Sylvie Legault found the net, keeping the Warriors within striking distance. But it was Hailey Terpstra who became the hero in overtime, scoring the game-winning goal at 1:44 OT off assists from Greene and Gagnon, giving Indiana Tech a hard-fought victory.
The Warriors will now hit the road as they head to Minot State looking to carry this momentum forward and continue their strong play on the road.
