Box Score 2 HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team was swept by No. 12-ranked Stony Brook in their final series of the regular season, falling 4-1 on Friday night and 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Rinx.
Adam Jonak gave the Warriors the early lead with a goal at 5:03 in the first period of Saturday's game, but the Seawolves would respond with four goals in the second, two coming with a man advantage, to snap Tech's two-game winning streak.
Quentin Holmes was credited with the assist on Jonak's goal while
Chet Tooker made 45 saves in the loss.
The hosts would come out of the gates firing in the Sunday matinee with two goals in the first period and the third coming with 6:41 in the second. Holmes would put the Orange and Black on the scoreboard with 3:39 in the second to cut the deficit to two, but Stony Brook would add three more goals in the final period to answer the Warriors after goals from
Dominick Manochio and
Jarrett Pfeiffer with 16:29 and 8:41 on the clock, respectively.
Tooker would make 43 saves in net while taking the loss while
Joe Molfetta notched a pair of assists.
Tech (16-19-1) now turns its attention to the postseason this week with the Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League (GLCHL) Tournament in Kent, Ohio. The Warriors are the number-four seed in the tournament and will play fifth-seeded Rochester on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Ice Arena.
